We know that you may have spent months or years saving places and making lists in Google Maps or Foursquare. We want to make it as easy and seamless as possible for you to transfer your data to North, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Our Google Maps and Foursquare import feature allows you to import your saved places and lists into North.

How to Migrate

During sign up you'll be able to flag that you want you want to start you North experience by bringing your Google Maps and/or Foursquare data into North.

If you select either of these options after finishing signing up, you'll initially see tasks to start your imports. Just tap Get Started and follow the steps from there.

If you don't choose Google Maps as your starting point you can still kick off the import flow. To so, you can go to your settings and tap Import Google Maps Data into North or Import Foursquare Data into North in the Support section.

What You Can Expect

Google Maps

All of the places you've saved and lists you've created in Google Maps will be imported into North as follows:

  • Any places you've starred in Google Maps will be imported into North as a place with a status that you'll decide

  • Any places saved on your Favorites list will by default be imported with the status of "Love it", but you can update this preference

  • Any places saved on your Want to go list will by default be imported with the status of "Wanna go", but you can update this preference

  • Any lists you've created in Google Maps will be imported into North as standard lists

    • All places you've saved to a list in Google Maps will be automatically added to the corresponding list in North

  • By default, ratings in North are private, but if you've publicly rated a place in Google Maps, we will update the status of the place in North based on your rating

    • If you rated a place 1 or 2 stars in Google Maps, we will set the status as "Not great" in North. A rating of 3 or 4 stars will correspond with "Like it", and 5 stars will correspond with "Love it"

  • Any notes you've made on a place in Google Maps will also be saved to the place in North

Foursquare

  • Any of your Foursquare "Saved Places" will be imported into North as a place with a status that you'll decide (we recommend "Wanna go")

  • Any of your Foursquare "Liked Places" will be imported into North as a place with a status that you'll decide (we recommend "Like it")

  • Any lists you've created in Foursquare will be imported into North as standard lists

    • All places you've saved to a list in Foursquare will be automatically added to the corresponding list in North

  • If you've made any tips on places we import they'll be added to the place as a thought
