We know that you may have spent months or years saving places and making lists in Google Maps. We want to make it as easy and seamless as possible for you to transfer your data to North, so you can pick up right where you left off.
Our Google Maps Import feature allows you to import your starred places and lists (including pre-made lists like "Want to Go") into North.
How to Migrate
During sign up you'll be able to flag that you want you want to start you North experience by bringing your Google Maps data into North.
If you select this option after finishing signing up, you'll initially see a task to start your Google Maps import. Just tap Get Started and follow the steps from there.
If you don't choose Google Maps as your starting point you can still kick off the import flow. To so, you can go to your settings and tap Import Google Maps Data into North in the Support section.
What You Can Expect
All of the places you've saved and lists you've created in Google Maps will be imported into North as follows:
Any places you've starred in Google Maps will be imported into North as a place with a status that you'll decide
Any places saved on your Favorites list will by default be imported with the status of "Love it", but you can update this preference
Any places saved on your Want to go list will by default be imported with the status of "Wanna go", but you can update this preference
Any lists you've created in Google Maps will be imported into North as standard lists
All places you've saved to a list in Google Maps will be automatically added to the corresponding list in North
By default, ratings in North are private, but if you've publicly rated a place in Google Maps, we will update the status of the place in North based on your rating
If you rated a place 1 or 2 stars in Google Maps, we will set the status as "Not great" in North. A rating of 3 or 4 stars will correspond with "Like it", and 5 stars will correspond with "Love it"
Any notes you've made on a place in Google Maps will also be saved to the place in North
